The Monopteros wasn’t plucked from ancient Greece and placed here; it was carefully constructed in 1836, commissioned by King Ludwig I, a true admirer of classical art and architecture. He envisioned the temple as a focal point in the Englischer Garten, a place where visitors could admire the beauty of nature and classical design in harmony.
So King Ludwig I was interested in presenting this build, since he enjoyed the look and the architectural achievement of the buildings from ancient times.
This goal for the building is attributed to the desire to have the old brought to Bavaria, so that Bavaria could feel connected to those countries.
The height of the building is about 16 meters (52 ft)
