Located on the eastern side of Marienplatz, the Old Town Hall stands proudly with its charming white façade, stepped gables, and a tall clock tower topped with a pointed red roof. It’s easy to spot, just opposite the more elaborate New Town Hall that dominates the square.
This Gothic-style building, originally constructed in the late 15th century, reflects the vision of Duke Albrecht IV, who wanted to combine civic pride with spiritual grandeur. Its pointed arches, tall windows, and fairy-tale appearance make it a perfect example of Gothic revival architecture.
While the Old Town Hall once served as the city’s administrative center, today its tower houses the Toy Museum, drawing visitors of all ages.
