It is the Olympiapark, or Olympic Park in Munich! You can discover vast and versatile landscape that hosted the 1972 Summer Olympics and continues to be a vibrant hub for events, activities, and stunning views.
So, the Olympiapark wasn’t always a park; it was created for the 1972 Summer Olympics, which were held in Munich. The park was designed to be a model of modern urban planning, integrating sports facilities with green spaces and recreational areas.
The Olympics were designed to show a different, more peaceful image than Germany had in World War II.
Even with what it wanted to show, disaster struck. There was a terrorist attack, where 11 Israeli athletes died. The games continued after the attack, which was seen as controversial.
Today, the Olympiapark is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. It’s a place where you can enjoy a variety of activities, from swimming and ice-skating to concerts and cultural events.
The park features several striking buildings, including the Olympic Stadium, the Olympic Hall, and the Olympic Tower. These buildings are all examples of innovative and modern design. There is Olympic berg and Olympic lake.
But it’s not only buildings, there’s green space, with plenty of parks to enjoy.
You can ride the Olympic Tower! The Olympic Tower offers panoramic views of Munich and the surrounding area.
In the park is the Munich highest beer garden also.
