Propylaea

he Propylaea (German: Propyläen) is a city gate in Munich at the west side of Königsplatz.

The Propylaea wasn’t built in ancient Greece, it was commissioned by King Ludwig I, that king of art. He was a big fan of Greek culture, and he wanted to create a monument that would reflect Munich’s status as a center of art and learning.

The monument was brought to the world in 1862, as it was designed to invoke a feel of Greece.

It had its own war damage.
