Residenz Museum

The Residenz Museum is located within the Munich Residenz, which as we’ve mentioned, served as the seat of government and residence of the Bavarian rulers from 1508 to 1918.

The museum showcases a selection of the most impressive rooms and collections within the Residenz, offering a glimpse into the lives of the Wittelsbach rulers and their vast artistic holdings.

As you explore the museum, you’ll encounter a dazzling array of treasures, from Renaissance paintings and Baroque sculptures to exquisite furniture, tapestries, and silverware.

The museum also features several special collections, including the Treasury, the Coin Cabinet, and the Egyptian Collection.

Impressive are art pieces from many time periods and many types. The collection includes paintings, sculptures, furniture, and other decorative arts from different eras and styles.

There are collections of precious art and jewelry, a truly lavish display of crowns, jewels, and other treasures that belonged to the Bavarian rulers.
